Yeah, appreciate you coming on finally. Yeah, yeah, late, for sure for sure. So let'sjust let's go back to it. You were born in South Carolina. Youmove to Connecticut, so at a young age. What Made Your family movedto Connecticut? I think it was just more opportunities for my father mother. So I think you know well from the south is like feeling nothing near isand it's still the same way to this day. Yeah, I think moreso for more opportunities, just to get out of the country. Yeah, yeah, for sure. And how'd you get involved in boxing? Was afighter, so my father box with me and my brothers. God evade. He took us to the gym and it was history from there. Did youfall in love like the first day? Yeah, let mean, my motherfathers tell stories about me when I was younger. How you like three yearsold? How you know I'll have gloves on. Every where I went Ihad gloves on. If they take the gloves for me, I will cryabout him. It was like, I guess it's kind of like built intome and I like that's I got three other brothers that box. Yeah,so, I mean all of us are good, equal, equally good, you know. So, but it just so me. I just I justfung on to a little longer than they did. You know, they wantto do other things, like. You know, no, I sacrifice. They got jobs and stuff like that, but you know, I sacrifice andI wanted to show everybody really wanted to do. It was something I wantto do a style with child anyway. Yeah, for sure. And Iknow you played other sports, curb. So you played basketball, right Gatplay basketball for a little while, play football for year. I mean,I may may my brother athletic girl home. We're athletic family. If you askanybody from where we from, everybody know that. If you say thedoors and Nanda know that. This think about athletes, you know, becausethat's what we do. Yeah, for...

...sure. It was no coincidence thatboxing will be like sexy second nature to me. So yeah, definitely. Now, when you were in like high school. What did you like?Your other classmates thinks about you, like boxing, like doing basically a nontraditional sport. Yeah, I mean, well, some people know I wasthe boxing since I was about my first time I was in Nukeb I thinkI was like ten or left. Yeah, maybe my brothers who were always inthe newspaper, you know, for boxing, going to tournaments and onein tournaments and and things like that. So it was like as I gotolder, about fifteen, fifteen, I started going to national championships and doinggood in those tournaments. and Dave Silomon, who was a big time reporter forthe UM. Do have a vegister? He passed away. No, GodISS so, but he was one of the main guys that really likeno, follow my career and from the time I was some of my timeout thirteen tell I was like twenty seven. You followed my career where he wasat heavy fight. You know, he wrote about being stories and itsthings like that. So men pretty much. Well, I'm from my family.Know what being a box of family. So yeah, definitely, and turnedpro at nineteen and eighteen. Ore a seen. All right, soyou sent thro eighteen. So what was that like and what was the decisionbehind that. Okay, this is behind was I had just went to thejunior world championships. Yeah, I was seventeen. I wanted to junior worldchampionships and I want to bronze medal and I was the first American the medalin that tournament since one thousand nine hundred and eighty five or something like that. So it was like it was big, you know. So when I cameback I was ready to number I was right up there, was numbertwo in the country as an amateur. So when I came back it waslike it was big. I didn't realize how big it was, but whenI came back, I think I had like two or three more amateur fightsand I stopped everybody. So it was like a he came to a pointwhere I just started getting good. Yeah, good, as I got bigger andgot stronger, you know, I got better and better and better, and my training was like a man. I think we should turn pro andsaid it was around the time that older Jermaine Taylor, Jeff laced, allthose guys re turn pro to so we wanted to turn pro with those guys. Yeah, you know, to get in, get in the mix ofth guts and I was fortunate enough on...

...my pro debut I phote on thearm a main event under the car and Moll E car son. Yeah,I got a lot of exposure from that. Yeah, definitely. was there anyever a time that you wanted to like go to the Olympics? Ohyeah, I mean that's my hortimate goal was the Olympics. But you know, when you were teenager, I was a tell a teenager. You know, I got boxing going on, I'm trying to play other sports and doall the things like that. It was like sometimes, you know, Iwasn't able to make it to the gym. I was able to upcause I wasdoing other things. Yeah, so around the time the Olympics came around, I was in the gym full time. Not So my trains and he didn'tthink it was a good idea for me to go child, for themto go to the limpy child. So we skipped it and I end upgoing to the other nineteen junior world championships. wanted a bronze meddle deer, soI guess that was that was a big enough deal so that when Icame back I just side of the turn pro. I turned pro with JeffLadjer main Taylor, all those guys from the Olympic team. Yeah, andit work work my benefit, you know. Yeah, definitely. I turned Poeat Middleway, so my first seventeen pikes were at middleway. Definitely,I was tasting Jimmaine Taylor and eventually I got too big. YEAHS and white. I know you mentioned the prote be, but what was it like? Didyou have butterflies? Yeah, yeah, definitely doesn't. I mean it wasthe first time getting the ring with no hay gear, no shirt on. I mean, I mean, yeah, I was nervous my first fight.Yeah, I was. I was really nervous. No, my hadmy family here, friends did. But you know, here's the ten otherbusiness. You know from near that was that was the beginning of that startof my career. Yeah, for sure. And you became world champion at twentyfour. So how did that happen so fast? You know what I'msay? You like this. When I first turn pro, like I wasa knucklehead. I was kind of like a knucklehead, like I wasn't doinganything, like I was like for no, I was like for no, Istill wasn't like a full time boss, like I was still like walking around, like I was I'm just up, just a CA I got little,I just happened to how to box. You know, it was I gotto look at it and look at the big picture, like I tobe really become a world champion. So, you know, like my first fouror five fights I was still like running around and then when I finallystarted to get serious, you know,...

...it went by fast. You know, winning fights, winning fights, winning fights, winning fight, and theythink, you know, I'm seventeen and know. And then I caught theirattention of a big promoter who was gary show. I signed with him andfrom there I think I to my third fight with him. I foll forwardtitle. Yeah, definitely. What's to that first world time fight? wasthat whole experience, like it was a great thing, but I was groomed. I was room for that fight. I was room for it. No, every nobody thought I was going to win that fight. Everybody out ofcount me out of a fight. But before that fight I for Eric Cardon, yeah, whose who still a pretty decent name and lay here with youin that time and who was somebody I grew up with. I grew upwatching fight and he's come. He from connecticuts Marfur. So I knew himand we were kind of like good friends. But I took the fight with himfight that I was very nervous for it because, you know, hethis was a very sperienced guy, very experience older, you know, atthe time I was twenty. When I for your herd, I was twentythree, you know. So I mean, like I said, I was groomfor like, you know, making my promoter, making a right fight, you know, and gave me the right position of the home just tostriving. You know, we become a great fighter and he did that forme. Yeah, that was back in two thousand and seven when you wonin is it crazy that the guy a men and men is still fighting, the Guy Thomas Adaman, Oh Adam and Adam. Yeah, yeah, heavyway to yeah, that's crazy. He's for years. So it's great, but I think he's just stopped. I think he's name but his own.But you know, he had a great career. I mean, yeah,he lost to me. He went up to cruise the weight. I thinkyou want a title at cruise away. Didn't went to heavyweight. It hassome good fights a heavyweight. I mean he did, like did a lotof great things. I mean just happened at when I was coming along. It was just my time. Sein now. I was young, I was twentyfour. I was that I was on top of my game. Iwas in my I wasn't even if I didn't even hit my prime yet.Twenty four years though, I even had, I hate my time when that's whenI realized really, like I was twenty six. I'm when I reallylike hit my prime, like, but I was like if I got Ihad that confidence, like I was like...

...nobody to beat me, and Iknow nobody could beat me. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, you had afive year championship run where you beat Glen Johnson twice, toliver twice and basicallyyou beat Hopkins twice. So so what was all that like? What wasthat? Was that run like? That was I mean that's a long time, five years. I mean it was. It was a great run. Imean it was great. I mean just be to be known as thebest lay hey wait in the world for five years, in the world because, I mean it was it's a great feeling. I mean at the time, because I was doing so much and the time was moving so fast, like I didn't really get the appreciate it. Yeah, but now I'm older, sit back and I think about everything I've accomplished over the years and Istill bank like why, I can't believe I did that, like I can'tbelieve me, but three times word champion. I can't believe that. I can't. I mean it's kind of the real but, like I said, like this what I dreamed about since I was a little kid. Yeah, definitely, and I know you have five losses. Like which one would youwant the rematch with? All the all, I'll take it as that's a boxof mentality. That's a bottom, but the boxing mentality right there,I tell you, I will be. And I know some people think you'reretired right now, but I know you want to fight in two thousand andnineteen. So, yeah, when you want to fight again. Look,I'm looking to fight this summer. Looking me back in the summer, inthe June, early July, lady alife whatever, but I'm definitely trying togive least two or three fighting before the years over. Yeah, definitely. Is there anyone that you want to fight in particulars right now? I think, in my opinion, it's kind of vulnerable. You got a lot ofEuropean champions. I don't think we have an American champion heavy week, youknow, and it takes a certain style. beat the European style. Takes acertain style and I think I feel that in Adamic fight. Yeah,I had a big fight that the American style, like my style. Isit that out? Will be anyone of these guys? You know these guysare they got the European style, nothing...

...special, everything base. Take fightwith anybody, anybody in the top fifteen right now. Yeah, it soundsgood. And I know you opened the gym last summer. So what wasthat like and why did you want to open your own gym? I justwant to open the gym, just just to give something back to the community. Know, I feel, like you know, everything I've learned and boxing, like it's my job to give it back to somebody else. You know, they handed down to somebody. Yeah, that's that's that's what I'm doing.I mean I'm definitely, of course I'm handing it down to my son, but you know, it's just bigger than that. Like if I could, but I tell everybody, if I could get a kid in my gymfrom the age of ten and I could guy him pay four hundred and twentyfive and one of the world championship. I feel like I did my job. Yeah, definitely. My whole take is building fighters. You know,of course I work with a guy who's already established and things like that, but you know, my whole goal is when it comes to becoming a trainer, I want to home build a fighter from the ground up. Yeah, definitely, a title. Yeah, definitely. I mean I'm sure that would beamazing feeling to do that. Yeah, and would you ever consider like traininglike actors, like say, like a Michael B Jordan to be likein creed? You know, yeah, definitely. Like I said, it'salways going to be a way why I could pass my lo is down, where it be a little kid or whether the actors or anything like. Isave and boxing. I go've done so much and I've seen so much andI've heard so much the like. If anybody comes to me like questions oradvice and because I thought I could give you the fighting guys, you inthe right direction because, like I said, and I've been through the ups anddowns a boxing I know the inn the house, I know I knoweverything about box I know. I know what's the right deal of fires takewhat's not a right to you know, when it comes to training, thebusiness, I everything else know, like I feel like I've gained all thatknowledge, and that knowledge I'm should be able to give it back to myelse. Yeah, definitely. And you're ready for some fun questions. Yeah, right. What kind of music deals to you in your train training? You want the artist order. I just hip hop, hip your any favoritesongs right now? Here, songs right now? Not just right now.Just listen to meet MIL this. No,...

TI, like my favorite rapper isTis, one of my favorite rapper for all time, young dz sequel. I mean those are guy. I'm not with the new school sell allowme my ear. For sure. Did you ever have anyone walk out withyou? Any rappers? Not, I didn't. I didn't, but beena lot of few labs. have to fight, but nobody walked out withyou. Know, Goshall stuff like that. Anybody, if you like, youa big fan of tattoos and and you watch me and you want mycareer. You know I'm not like a flashy guy. I'm not saying well, I'm not loud, I'm not you know that was that was like theknock like people had. Like people didn't like the fact that I wasn't loud, not even took it, and I didn't do like. People didn't likethe fact that I that that wasn't my emo. Yeah, you just didyour job and got the winds. Yeah, that's my job. was going inwhen, like I didn't care about everything else. Like, I hada discuss you with a friend of mine couple weeks ago up, yes,and we were talking about like boxing, like when you like, when youwhen you gon't fight again, like when to fame in his money. I'mlike Yo, I told him, like I've never got into a boxing tobe famous. Yeah, like, I've never thought to be famous. Ofcourse, yes, I did fight for money, yeah, but I've neverdid it to be famous. Yeah, definitely doesn't want to fight for moneyand make money and yeah, but I've never stepped into the ring. I'venever done anything to be famous. I've never wanted to be fat, I'venever act to be famous. Of course, it comes with the territory, butI've never asked for yeah, yeah, that's the money. The money. That's a plus. But as far as like, I don't act likealmost celebrity. I don't train anybody different from I don't want nobody treat meany different. That's just how I live my life, though. So I'massuming you're glad you didn't grow up in this social media era. Oh,I'm mad I didn't. Actually, you're right. So much it comes withthe social media. I mean this is so much like social media came inright after like for be hot. That's what like social media was like reallycoming in. Yeah, definitely, like...

...now that now, no, nowit like I should. I should be taking advantage of it. Yeah, for sure. I mean, yeah, it's a good than the sense obviouslyit's promoting boxing a lot. Yep, I think even in the past fewyears boxing got bigger just coming social media. Yeah, definitely, just from thisand just even just in the past, like I don't know, maybe likeyear, a lot of people have been like screw UFC, like allthe stuff, then all the bossing, and then obviously they're seeing boxers gettingpaid way more. Like the top boxers get paid way more than the topUFC fighters. Yeah, that was just made thirty five minutes. Yeah,so I saw that he made thirty seven. They had to give them. Yeah, I was crazy. I was wild as a while that he gotfind that much money to have. It was a quartermill each pound. Yeah, but you possession of that fight different. But they put the weight restriction onDanny Takeo. Right, yeah, because I don't want Danny takes abig middleway. Yeah, Danny take up to blow up two months after theway in. But Danny take up didn't even to me my opinion here.Literally he didn't attempt to try to make weight because he wanted, he wantedto advantage. But the stepping aside, so you find he had to get. Fine, he gave to me enough, but everything is still didn't work athis favor. Yeah, feel like he was a strong fighter to betterfire, the more superior fighter he want to fight. Yeah, thatfinitely.I mean Canella does that all the time. They'll go like blows up and waitingfor the following day. So I buy me an obviously, and madeweight. But yeah, seventy three. Yeah, on hundred and seventy three. And I know. Yeah, definitely. I know. You have four sonsand do any of them inspire to be boxers. Yeah, I goton two of them too. Yeah, my oldest Chad Jr Tager, wantto be fighters every day, JEM now and everything. So, yeah,it's dope. Are they going to start fighting the amateurs? YEA, somany. It's a nervous feller for me, you know, you just like it'sdifferent that you can like trying to guy the kids in the right way, but and it comes to boxing.

You try to teach me much youwant to teach them, but in the day it's not you going and theygetting hit and taking the punishment. You know, that's like I don't knowif, like my kids have just the heart and thedation that I got.Like I said, they still young. Yeah, younger tiger. Tigers onlyonly ten. Yeah, Chad at fifteen. But at the same time, youknow, the different animal, different sport. I mean got I havea different type of mine, given type of heart. I mean you gottatough. I try to explain this to them all the time, like yougot all the talent in the world, but if you work at it,don't master the talent, then it's not that's never going to work. Yeah, definitely, definitely, definitely, and what are your thoughts on MMA?Do you like I I love him. Yeah, I love it. Butwhat I do it and you have to kick me in you you have anyfavorite fighters? And UFCMM. Yeah, of course, on Connor McGregor.I'm not gonna I like them. C I wasn't like his personality, butI like I like it. Styles a we fight like John Satire. Yeah, George, same period. Yeah, George. Yeah, he's easy tobest. I like what's his name? The guy will be home, kindof a Gregory last got to beat them. Yeah, him. Yeah, actually, he trains a lot of boxing. John Jones. Yeah, he's he'sa name. Have you ever spart with the MMA fighters? No,you know what one time you want to be on winer. Oh, yeah, yeah, I know. What's his name? I know you're talking.Yeah, he's like a light heavyweight or something. Maybe he's name. Oh, yeah, rematch. Yeah, crazy. And what about who? Do youthink? It's like town for pound...

...right now, boxing right now?Yeahs to me right now at performance. Yeah, yeah, I don't yeah, I don't think anyone. All right. So what about? What about ifyou think if can triple g three happens, what do you think willhappen. I came about Terence Crawford, a response, I think, toget them. Yeah, to cousin man carverages. Show me everything, youdon't just show me one thing. He showed me every day. Show methe box, he could punch, he could move, he could swish,or the docks out for I mean other fence is a great fighter, veryfighter, and put and then they took him. My help, Canello rightnow. Did they push them too fast? Yeah, yeah, what? No, Canello right now, now, right now. I mean what Ithink? I think. I think coper. Right now, I carper. Whatabout Joshua versus wilder? If that ever happened? So Fun. Joshuagonna have a hard tow with Brazil. You think so? Yeah, Ithink so. Mad. Look, mad he's a Yo. Don't give creditman, this Duke of bold. He's don't. He's not like one ofthem heavy Scott to just go and looking land the big punt. He's that. He said stuff, but he's he'll set you up, the knock youout. I like Bazil. I like what. I like them. Ilike Bazil. I think he got a chance to beat down to wilder.I mean, yeah, the run and the same thing. We all preserve. The run over wilder too. Yeah, it's a lot of anything. GotA lot of in my set. Each other too. So fireworks, some fireworks, I think him. So firework this fight? Yeah, definitely. What do you think about the wilder...

...fury fight? Because I thought thatwas crazy when the it up, when feary got up. I mean itwas good, but the only thing that mess that up is that they didn'tdo the rematch. Yeah, definitely, that's the only thing. Now nowtry to do the REMAC the fight's going to be nobody's will be interested init. Yeah, who knows? Who? Either wanted them to take a helbbefore that. Anyone of them lose any getting job. So I did. He did that rematch. Ye, and do it, but the factthat it's not fighting each other, that's like, I think that's kind ofweird. Definitely our last one. What would be your dream matchup, ifit was like any person like that or alive? Did I dream match up? Me and Mar Hacker. What happened? May more now I love my favorite, but now I mean a dream fight. I mean to get inthere with one of the one of the great one of the legs I meancan't beat that. I mean look, Look, look my career, youmy creer, not over yet, but I got five losses. But atthe end of the day, if I never fought again, I've always saylook, Ma I've been the ring with an how kids, I've been ringwith you, war and those.
