This is the average to savage podcast with Paul Greno everyone in anyone, athletes sets and much more. WHAT'S UP, everybody? I'm back for another episode of the average had its podcasts. got a special guest, Marlon Morice, one thirty five Bantam weight top and tender right now. Marlin, what's up? Everything good? Yeah, here podcast. Yeah, appreciate you coming on. So let's just jump right into it. How did you get into mixed martial arts? I start training I was nine years old. I was back home member Zio, my town, read the Jenato and one one of my friends, and that was a girl. She she told me I'm doing kickboxing and and I said I want to, I want to be around this girl, you know, and I went. I went to the kick boxing, but I just want to be around the girl, you know, all good shit, and think that's here and I stud like boxy and she last she stock train. I kept training and I start to cope though. I went to a competition. Maybe I was eight months training. Yeah, I want and I felt in love with the sport and that just kept doing. Yeah. So how did you make the move from Brazil to the US, and what was that transition like. I will say I start young and you know, I did a lot of competitions, a lot of kickboxing, a lot of my tied in I was fifteen, my friend told me, Hey, man, you should be Ju Jitsu because you like a mem a. You know, maybe you can find and I just I just start training. I start saying Jiujitsu. I started to like Jiu Jitsu as well, and I was eighteen. I gotta fight and then they fight. But think, who thinks was hard and Brazil. I have a job and I was going to school and training. It was hard to do everything and at some point I have to stop. Train hard a little bit. I was training as a while, you know, couple days a week and but but I still wanted...

...to compete. I was still compete and I have a little bit tough, maybe true, three years and doing that. But I finish the school, I quit everything and and I start just just train and teach. And later on at some Barbazza, he came here. He was living in Florida and he signed with you seeing and he said, Amen, if you want to come here, you can come here. You can teach at the gym. And they said the gym dom ll be back there. They paid for my Zeza and I came here. I came here for teaching and this is how I got here. Yet when you are got here, did you already know English or did you have to like warning on the fly? I was I brought I bought my my my picture Maddie on the plane and then it starts to one all the way here. Hello, what's up? You GOTCHA. That's crazy. I had a couple couple wards. You know. I think I went to London two times months. I knew how to say hello, you know, and not, not, not, and ask for food, you know, for something easy. But that that was it. You know. I started long everything here in two thousand and eleven. Yeah, so your breakout was in the world series of fighting. So who, like discovered you? To get into that, I was in Florida and I was speaching out there and Addson had a couple of fights in the UFC and he wants to make a change and Frankie had you going to invite him to come here and New Jersey and and he brought me with him and we start training here with these guys and some day I was barring and this guy all the up lads sparred me a little bit and he said, man, I think I can get you a fight, and that's that's how I met him. Now you start managing me and he got me a fight on the which that that's...

...how it was. So you went on a tear in the world series of fighting. You want on eleven game and then eleven fight, win street and you will be. You became the Bantam weight champion. Then you HAVEC signed, you two thousand and seventeen, and so who was that whole experience like? Yeah, man, was a tough road, you know. I went to work us and I got there. I was like nobody, you know, and I start to build my name. I became a champion and I start to fight for the title with a lot of good guys. But guys are a lot of people didn't know, you know. So it was a lot of responsibility over my shoulders and I was a ranking guy and fighting all those good guys coming from everywhere, and was hard. It's easier and you'll see. You see you know who's going to be the content that you're watching the guys and you know all about fifteen guys. So who you know? You have a notion that who you going to be competing again against. So, but what was it? I enjoy, you know, I enjoy the road. Learned so much. You want to know its shears of fighting with all the employees. You know, a lot of good people out there and honest people. They they helped me and they built the fight that I am today. You know, I'm very thankful and I had good emotions. You know, I was a word chapel. How about? You know, I defend the bell. I fought in different countries. I fought in many, many cities in in America. I was able to go places that I've an never, never dream before. So what's good? The road was great, but, like to my goal was the ending, your see, and after a couple of years I start to think so much about this, you know, and I kept working hard and they'll put an each game and I didn't. I didn't sign with the your see, we prefer St Day on the work series. But later on they'll put ten each came again and we saw that that was time, you know, but they come back and I did...

...one more fight, but after that one that was it. You know, I need something else. I need to go somewhere I need to post with something bigger, you know, and it's just what I did. I moved to the USC and that's how I got to the USC. Yeah, so you had a tough first office by split decision, but you're on a three three flight winning streak right now and your backpack fight of the night performances. And your last fight was a Ko, but it's Jimmy Rivera and he was on like a twenty fight winning streak and thirty three seconds to do them in June. So what's next to you? I don't know, man. I thought of competition. You know my prose on a challenger and I want to fight for the build. Yeah, but let's see, let's see what's going to happen and I hopefully we come to to a good decision and I have to fight that I want to. If not, I'm going to keep fighting, to keep putting the show and performing for for the fans. You know, that's it for sure. Yeah, I was going to ask you. So I know you want to fight TJ dot show, but that doesn't happen, what would you who would you fight, or who do you want to fight? A couple guys that I want to fight. You know, I can fight. I can fight. Maybe I can rematch with us a song, you know, and then we decide who was next, you know, but let's see. Me, I'm confidant, you know, and I hopefully I get the shot. Yeah, I think eventually you'll end up fighting TJ deal. So, so how do you think that will that fight would play out? To Chase, the show is the best. You know, that's division. He's able to fight everywhere and he's a mixed march of artist. But he got holes, you know, he got homes. On his game. Everybody has, and I believe in a good given day, I can, I can upset Him, you know, I can bring I can big pace to the table. That could put him in trouble. I believe that, and he does to, you know, we keep hinting and that him and his coach, they mention me up again, screws you know why?...

Why they say that crew should fight me. You know, they got to say if they think I'm tough, tough, you know, I could give crew struggle. Why not give him trouble, you know? Yeah, and that's what what upsets me a little bit. That's it. Every sure. Have you ever like spart teacher. No, I never, never spoil and never see. That's good, you know. Yeah, always the first time and it's good to fight somebody don't know at all. But I know this guy, you know. I've been watching him for a long time. Yeah, we all know each other on a dotes. Yeah, definitely. So for those that don't know, where do you where are you train out of, and who are you training with? Leaving time, you know, when we go train NICATONE MMA, we go to handsle grace, but my main coach is that Frankie. Frankie, I do he eat the fighter, but he helped me a lot with my wrestling, and Mark Hanley's my head coach in Le Cargo. Made will want card here and you know, Have Ryan coming here to for kickboxing and the train being great. Me, I'm very happy with a year and this is what I'll be. You know, I'm I can't wait to find for my next fight and just put everything together. Yeah, definitely. So what would you say your most memorable fight is to date? Right now, I think it was the last one. You know, like people, most of the people, the fans, they just remember about your last fight. But through an our heads is a little bit like that. Do I think the last fight keep drinking out on our head, but I believe my first fight in the words years of fighting was a big fight for me. You know, was a breaking point. You know, when I fuck mediators and and I prove to the world I belong there, you know, and I'm leash eat and I'm a fight, they're out to fight for anybody. Yeah, I think I think your previous two fights, I know, definitely the last one you went. You went pretty much viral, like all over ESPN, stuff like that. Well, what was that like? Cool man, was great and to see a lot of people talking...

...about me and recognizing that the hard to work out be putting on. You know, we will work hard. Of course, I have my dreams and you don't want to help my family out, you know, I want to provide for my son. But it's good when you go to work and you do work and proper recognize you did good, you know, and this is this is awesome. Yeah, definitely, I think your name is getting bigger and bigger out there. So how's we're going to get some fun questions now. So how'd you get the nickname magic? I got from Frankie and crizzily go already. Okay, glory trained with us to as a fighter and this guy step same magic. How I got any game and you like it? Yeah, I like it. You know, it's hard to to find the nickname, but I think they found a good one for me. Yeah, for sure. It's always it's always great when somebody else comes up with your nickname and not yeah, it's Brazil. We always say, if you like your nickname, people get to stop to call you your nickname. Always on the beginning you have to fight again. Yeah, people, definitely. So what do you like to do in your free time when you're not training? Let's let's say my family, with my wife. Yeah, my my parents, Mike, they they don't know. You know my parents are humble. You know they grow up for and that they don't believe they can go to United States. You know, it's in that mind. Is Not a reality. But if they come in here and then see how safe it is, you know how enjoyable is, I think they might like because in braze was it's hard, because that's something that we don't think happened. happened. They're like here, you just walk in the street, you somebody call you, you see a text message, and I presue you can. You can carry your phone on your hand. You carry your phone and real somebody's going to come and gonna Steal and if you if you have a watch and Nice Watch, somebody gonna see, they're gonna try rob you.
