This is the average this averagepodcast with Bal Garino everyone and anyone athletes soets andmuch more lat's up everybody, I'm back foranother episode of average savage podcast. I got another Special Guss witme today: Name Montgomery, renew, what's up good, how bout Yourselca'TCOMLN Olet'sjust jump right into it and Coul tell the listeners a little about yourself, okay, I' named Momery. I play here in Atlanta for the Atlanta Dream, which isa WNBA team, and what else I don't know this is my tenseason, you're, better yeah for sure for sure IA betteran. I heard thattitle all right, so you started playing basketball ad of young age who 'd youlook up to in the WNBA or the NBA or sports wise in general, and did youmodel your game after anybody? Well, actually the WBA started when I was notwhil was not young. I was older when it started so ther wasn't necessantly aWBA player that modeled my game acter, because there wasn't a WBA at that time. But when I was younger, I actually loved watching Scotti THIPP and eventhough he's basically a defessive player and a lot of people say I don'tplay any defense, so so there's that so you're all American in high school andI'm sure you had a lot of offers. So what made you go to you con? That wasthe thing that kind of made me go to Yucon. I did have a lot of offerscoming out of high school, Pretty Much Koind Hov picked wherever I wanted togo, and you know the coaches on their recruiting show they. You basicallytell you everything you want to hear. Well, everyone knows how Cocharim is.He definitely didn't. Tell me everything I went to hear he basicallyjust came in and was like. You know, you're good, obviously, but I'm notgoing to guarantee you a stirty Spoti'm, not going to guarantee you this, I'mnot going to guarantee you that R, I can't tell you, is that you know wedon't have any bias when it comes to ag. So if you want to come in here and earnyour keep at, you know, you just gave me that whole spill, so that wasappealing to me because it was first of all different than what all the othercoaches were doing, and it was a challenge. So I was. I was lookingforward to the challege for sure so takin a Olit school like Yukon. Whatwas it like? Plang for, like the legendary Cochooriama and and thengoing on to Wen a national championship your senior year? It was different thanI'm sure. A lot of people would think he's actually nice. You know a lot ofpeople see has rough exterior and you know they see him yelling an goingcrazy all the time but honestly, like I, I wouldn't rather go to war with anyoneelse in innocence because e's, you know he's going to have your back onehundred percent, whether it's against the breast of the other team, no matterwhat somebody's talking about you so just knowing that and and the passionthat he has for you to Exhele. That's those are the kind of things that Imean. I just love about him for sure and then after the nationalchampionship wasn't the draft is like a few dayslater, a few weeks later and you get drafted on befor Weekad, it riht thefirst Tim e days. Ayou know the parade was probably likea day after the championship, and it...

...was a world Wen honestly like it's hardto remember a lot of that. That happened because they happened so closetogether. But I do remember that you know everybody was there to support meand that felt good. So, were you still like at Ukon when you got drafted? Areyou were? Oh, you were aitftedits like I said it's a quickturn around is basically like. Well, you want a championship. Arignow go bea pro you on T on Fion. No, I was I was thinking if you were still like oncampus, while the draft wis going I, but you were there, though Yo no yeat, yeah whit's t. So what was that, like again drafted by the Minnesota Link?Ofourth Oroll, it Wa. It was kind of surreal. Like I told you, it was aWhirlwin, but just to hear your name called it's one of those things that, like it's hard to describe unless you feel it because it feels like you know, you work so hard your whole career and it goes back to when you're youngplaying a you. Don't really have summers to yourself. So then just thethe culbination of everything together and it's like wow, okay, everything wasworse than I'm really here, yeah for sure. So then you only played one yearthere because you get treated to the Connecticut Sun. So then what was thatlike to come back to connecticutn play and then they also drafted your formerYucon Tamat, which became your Connecticut Sun teammate to courls yeaho. That was like we were back on campus again Coana Green. My former teammatewas also there to my former uton teammate. So it was the three of us.You could have told us. We weren't just living living life. I mean the upmostit was. It was great. It was basically like Wewere back in college, but noclasses, so we were loving it. So it's it's Awiy for it there no Idla, no thatidafor sure. So you hadgreat seasons with the Connecticut Son. You became a Allstar for the first time. You won six women of the year and then I know you had a few good playoff runsand then you get traded twice in two thousand and fifteen to what what wasthat you're like Itas kind of crazy, because crazy and a good way, becauseyou know sometimes it's like things happen and you get worried like what isgoing on and en there's something thre. There's this huge light, then Di tellthat you had no idea was coming so actually, at the time I got traidedfrom Seattle, I had found an Ella poisonin. I wasn't even actuallypracticing with the team or anything like that, and I got the call from mycoach well, my new coach that was going to be coach Reeve in Minnesota. Shebasically was like yeah, I Hurd you're sick. Basically, we don't care get onthe plane. We need you for the game this tomorrow or something like that, and I was just like whal what and she as just like yeah. We need you like asin right now, so it was kind of crazy, because I was super sick and trying totravel and all that- and I mean I played in the game. So I was just happyto have survive that game honestly, but then we went on to wit, a championshipthat year. So every takin is for the rest was history for sure. Did you knowlike Youwere, getting traded like you're going to shopped around her? Itjust happened. No, it actually just happened because a player got hurt. Soyou know a lot of times on teams. When someone gets hurt that changes, youknow the dynamics of the team whene. They might need something right away, Oand e Minnesota right away. They needed...

...a point card because they're startingpointguard was actually out in the backof point. Gar was out so they hadno point guard t. So what was it like? Getting treated? Ell You did to getTrad back well, you got traded bad back to the Minnesota link and then you wontwo championships yeah. That was nice. I mean there's no, there's nothing! Youcan complain about with that anytime. You can Wini hampionship and have usand learn under the best itd. That time is invaluable, because there's thingsthat I took from them that like now, it's forever knowledge that I'l havethat. I can try to. You know carry on to the new team that I'm one here yeahfor sure and then again you played with another former team, a my more and nowyou're on Atlanta, now you're playing with Tiffany Hays, and so you play withlike pretty much everyones played with yeah. I meanmaye CSIF Youre a Gbehrd soplay ONA teamt playing with another othere's a lot of u out there, yeah bumsaying you played with former teammates to yeah yeah. That's it's great. I meanthere's a lot of us tuffi'm, saying Wer, youiit's, really crazybecause there'sso many of us. You not playit mor in Minnesota, Teto, Charles in Connecticut, now tiffany haves here, Clana Green Calli McLaren was on a training camp inMinnesota one year. It's really al. I playe with Caroline dody. It's just alot there's a lot of like I said. The list goes on, I play with Jessca moreas well, but she wasn't one of my teammates, but I play with subird.Obviously they're, not my teammates, but s there's a lot of there's a lot. There was a lot, so it's like hat's just like awesome. This yeahyou conconnection, so so women Wat made you decide sign, was still ina dream. TES ONSO! Well I wanted to come back. East was my main thingbecause for family you know, like my family, for instance, this season alone,my family has been some more games that they probably been in the past fiveseasons. Combined. I mean they come up for a week at a time, sometimes twoweeks at the time, they're actually heare right now, but they get to comein longer spurts, because it's a car ride away. Now it's not a plane rise.So anytime you hop in the car and come somewhere. It obviously makes it somuch easier to maneuver good for sure. So you guys are probably the hottestteam right now how deep o you think you're gonna go onthe playoffs. Like I always say I never like any boll predictions. I just I'mhappy to first Aboul being the playoffs, because coming last year they Atlantadidn't even make the playoffs. So it's kind of a more so I woul say releasebecause you know I left a championship team and that's always scary, thutunknown. You never know. What's going to happen, you know I'm leaving like atop notge program, top Nog coachy staff, top nodge teammates and I'm watchedunknown and so for us to be as successful as we are right now is moreSofer relief like o okay, so I didn't do hat. I wasn't actually completelycrazy yeah. So how has it been like? How have you translated from like being a starter?Being a six woman and now you're a starter, Yau actual think thetransition wasn't very hard. The minute I played for Minnesota links. I playeda lot of minutes. You know, even though...

I was tha six woman, I played a lot ofminutes. I played in a lot of big moments in the Games and I kind of keepthe mindset that, like I train the same wa Y, don't train different, whetherI'm lit his arter or coming off the bench. So to me, there's not reallymuch difference other than I start the Games, because I'm going to train thesame way, no matter what yeah for sure. So I so you pretty much accomplishedeverything like that: a Women Basketball player that could you wonlike everywhere, so like what keeps you going and what gives you motivate the only thing better than success,it's more success, so I think that's kind of what keeps keeps me motivated. You can never have too much. So yes, I have two rings. There's nothing wrongwith getting three hey four would be awesome, so that's kind of that's kindof the thing whenever you want to just build your Legacy d and that's thatbringe is always the topic of Dhiscussion. You seen in Ab all thetime when people ave discussing who's better who's, not who's. This whos. That brings always come up. Yeah definite mean you got. You got the highschool one in the college, one right, Ithreehigh, schoolone, okay, thereyougo TAT's that has obe pretty reare, then just for someone to have allthrough yeah yeah. So some people probably don't know that WNBA playersplay overseas during the quote, unquote off season, but so I know you've beenlike pretty much everywhere. So what's your like favorite place been so farsay my favorite place to play and the quote unquote es is Russia, it's just kind of surprising tohear, but it's more so a lifestyle choice and assist that they tras likeroyalty over there. So you know they. The apartment they put us in is lavishto say the Lise, and then you have a driver at all time. twent o seven. If Iwanted to go to McDonald's at two, am conal driver he'd come get me. It'sjust a different tyle. It's just a different life style that you live overthere, that you don't live in any of the other countri. So that's just so Iguess yeah like being Pamper, so I was saying Russia go so you played likealmost in a different country every season right just about so are youtrying to there any destinations you want to go to? I don't know heard that her was aleague in Du by and I'm trying to find me up, because that's an expesive flyexpensive hotel. So if they CA, if I can get to do by and play there now nowwe're talking we'r onto something forgo it have you have you signed anywherefor this coming season, I havean I'm. Actually only gnto go Haf the eerse O,I'm Goingto Takethe, first half of the season off, and so the seasons Basilyarthree months three and a half months, bands apiece! So after December inJanuary, I'll probably go overseas. Go what's that like just going from like awnbseason to then starting up again like oversea season, it's kind of crazy, because it's like, for instance, when I won my championship last year withMinnesota.

I had two weeks until I had to be inFrance like playing and starting a whole new season. So it's kind of youdon't ever really get a period to detoxs and, like I think, when I'm doneplaying I'll, be able to appreciate the success I've had because right now, I'min such a Cychl wheres go go, go, and I really don't just get to sit down andbe like okay wow. I did that like it's kind of like you're on to the next, like we won the championship all right now I got to go startin new season ofFrance in two weeks. Ye EIT's WID, itis, crazy, like it's like really in I was.I was really happy with my championship. Atd then reality. It is like all right.Let me say by to my family and everything because it's time to go twone month through, like the overseas seasons- and it depends every season-is every every country is different, so some seasons run long April. May Itsome seasons ind in March. It just really depends and then do. Yourcoaches are like from Wnba get like mad or anything like if you'R play too longor something like that yeah, it's pretty much a understanding that o knowwe make more money overseas than we do here inthe BA. So it's kind of there's there's definitely understanding theres. It'snot an issue to this leads perfectly into my next question, which is what's your take right now, on thewhole higher equal pay movement that everybody's trying to push K, I wouldlove to make more money an or me to make more money with it. Like I said, I understand things areprocess, but of course I I mean I feel like I work hard and just as hard asanyone else, and I would love to make more money. So if that does happen, Igot my routing number and then all that ready for sure so yeah like would youwant to only just play in the WNBA and, like obviously, get paid more and notcikyeah? No I'm saying not playoverses Yeah Sanbe able to have acualseason. where Icough t bea normal were. I could go like normal frstance. I haven't had aThanksgiving with like family and I'm not I', not sure how long I guess, tenyears o more than that, because I was Ha Yucon then so I probably haven't hada Thanksgiving with my actual family in like fourteen years, so just stuff that, like we don't get to do on a normal basis for Christmas, we usually get tocome home for four or five days, just just stuff that a lot of people don'teven recognize this a thing is not a thing for us so to be able to enjoyholidays with family friends to be able to pay. Let's just have a cook out thisweekend, stuff that I just don't normally get to do. I would love to beable to do that. Yefor sure I so Jalan rose was Pitgong Fori today, ind ESPN,Bu, Yeyeah and then the other topic they were disgusting was, I on't know Itotally lost trainof thought for that on well anyway. So we're going to skipthowt, hopefully remember so. I know after your cur, you said one of yourgoals to be on like dancing with the stars, so w. What are your othercargols after basketball? Like a lot, I want to host a TV show. I want to act.I want to have a recurring role in the...

TV show also want to do somecommentating stay around the game, an that aspect, so I kind of want to do abading at all. Actually ant a rub. Yes, andhe other TV shows you want to be onvshowsactuay. There's this TV show called faous Lov that I like that Iwould like to be on. I would absolutely love to be on SOTS. That's like one ofmy favorite shows. I would like a door to be on there. I can even just be asecretary on this show. Make me I don'thos new assistant, but I don'tknow because you can't get rid of Donna, so I don't know howbe somebody'sassistent on the show, but that would be great yeah. That would be the idealtrain job Gou. What's on your playlist before warming up for a game so jam, Lodam, low dams, all right, any any any artist, I don't know I say is name wrong everytime I know you know, I sit it wrong in your car that one time so you knowwhatm talking about Backoeran t ituyeahs, my favorite Soso. I know youlike to put fun captions on your Instagram Post, so like what are yourlike, favorite memes, ar like where you you get all this stuff from like memes, you want to know. What's crazy, I definitely don't get it from means. Ilook at the photo. I probably do it in five seconds. I think people think it'just like thought out process or anything I literally JAS Crowin through, because our pr God named Dan, He sends us game photos after every game like othat the people took, and so I literally when it's Game Day, I'vesprong through the photos- and I pick one and then like I look at it- isprobably like a ten second atistican process is, is nothing profound at all. It's literally like okay, Datenight Noh, you thought, likeyou know, like it liter Ly. I that that's all it is, and then I put whatwhen the game is and who were playing against and it's rap yeah for sure todid you ever do anything with the dream and like take over there nman liketheir social media. I haven't done that, yet I've actually taken oer the WBA toCBUT I haven't taken Ou wit, the alants. I don't even know if they actually dothat Yougo, you gotta, do it Mak Sur d, that I've done it with my other teams.I took over MINNESOASA couple time. I definitely took over Connecticut, butno, I haven't taken over the dreams. Yet Go Sare, you ready, for. I got acouple fan questions. Okay, one person said: What's your favorite shoe of alltime my favorite show of all time. I'M gonna have to go with the forals, the Idon't know what the ones they're called but mind say: Human Race. I don't knowwhat like it's called O. Those shis are so comfortable and I loe the way theylook there like a Soktoso, I'm Gongo with those, because I'm all about theCOMNTRY, you don't realose in the game right. No, I playing Cubbie's only inthe game. Here's another scenario question. Ifyou only had three players, jerseys pick for him from any sport who wouldtheybe...

...three player jerseys from any sports E. I don't know if it's an actualjersey, if it is this would count, but I need Serena Williams outfit. I Want Obama, high school,Shersey and wes Te Gotthoi, don't know, but heplayerheused to play basketball. So I wanted yeah. I WANT TO BAMAS JERSEY. I want torata Williams, is a little outfit and Yo Houd do that for hom we shoud thatfor home we do what Srana William. So no Alra no see. This is the thing thisis like my first Halloween, basically ever because when we were younger, wedidn't celebrate Hallyween, we wet the fall festival on my church, so this isbasically my first haliweed on my whole life and I'm going to be one of thosegirls off the perge when Ike, it's not the most recent perjuse, the pers. Before this, an Itas like a three girl group thing and yeah, I'm going to beone of those girls from the group and I'm also going to be Harley from thejokers girlfriend, I'm going to be Harley one day to so. I'M G have tohave a three dayxdrive agains, O folloween, you just go back up toYoukon you'll, be good Ohi'm, not going back up to Yucona king movie, soverHalloweenthirty on years old. That's that's a joke. In itself, AC to my last, my last jersey, yeah et have y y Di Wih is my dad. He PlayedCollege of Football State, O Ike get is Jersey, ieit framed up you Gota Goet, some, you gotta get some Customae jourseys. Now he said Jursy aren't evenaround yeah. I was doing ca, Yo Kow, the ones that are around juse yeah. Iseen a lot of like they do like, like will smiths Ersey from Prince Ovilla orlike balloon Wadrakin that MOS recentng he wet anddid the Marcus cousins, High School Jersey, so yeah, that's kind of themove, because if you just wanted to Labron James Jersey or something youcan literally just go on the Internet and get it H, I wonder why he pickeTemar Yeah. I thought that was Interestingoi'mgesing their friends. You know that, like the art music world and Atletic Roder like sanonymous, AlThost, so they're, probably like best friends- and we don't even know itbecause speaking O- that I've seen that a lot of famous celebrties rapperswhatever ar going to your games yeah, it's ACTALCORI, it startd to be alittle fkg likepecially in La Court, sideit's like the Loseo court side inLa and we're not doing too bad ourselves here in Atlanta, with withsome we've had some names here. you know Ti came here. A lot of NBA playershave come to our game. Some NFL ones, Camp Basmore, he's almost a regular atour games. It is so awesome just to see...

...the support from other athletes andjust even artists and stuff. You know that they supportit, so it's a great start for sure. Actually Ijust remember the other question. I don't know if you've seen there's likethese new NCA rules that just came out today, I definitely hadn't seen him. Soone of them was theyre letting players Ento the draft now and then, if youdon't get drafted, you go back ll that now that's that's! Not it I like thatsee. I think that that would probably B helpful a lot for women to just becausemost of them say four years we probably don't have the chance to wait. Now Imean that doesn't work for us. We have a role in the WBA that you can't getdrafted until after your four years. Maybe will change that now. So Yeah Tat that's definitely specifically Mansro, because yeah you have to eitherhave went to college for four years or four years post high school, so youcould go overseas for a year like if you went to college for three years andthen when eer Seiv for one year, then you're elligible for the draft but yeahwe don't arours doesn't work like that. So it's a great concept for themendough. I guess because it's like it's lot riskin for the men Ik it like.Let me just go test the waters. Okay, I'm not good enough! Yet here comeblike Nour, a com coach like you now you're back to your college team. Sowell, I guess an Wuld Sulk. If you get drafted like like last, I'm Sayinga. Might be making fifteenyears that two hundred tuegess man, Mki Fivelionyeeahi, don't know, Idon't know, what's going on with the NBA money it it's insane. I rememberlast year watching in the summer and all these crubs are getting like crazy, mountofmillions, oh yeah, first of all, don' use term sqarbs C and millions inthe same sentence. Let's not do that, but yes, there's there's a lot ofplayers that are making two million to clap now thinkg about that iul. When Itell you I would be the best clapper tha ever was for two million dollars. IClap I' stand up every time. Somebody dripples I, if that's the case, standupsit down the whole game. I don't know whatever me Frumkin that makeing bigmoney, so so yeah. If you get dragved a sixty, you better gladly accept thatfive billion for sure one. One last question I seen I actually just sawthis to today that a girl won the steff curry competition, three pointcompetition at his camp and I'm pretty sure it was versus boys. So would youwant to see like a w? Oh Yeah? They do do that. Actually they do the thing inthe also. Are we going a MBA whut? Would you want to see like a threepoint? Competition I knew you were just in it like three point versus, likeguys were girls ar all together Wnbmba I mean that would be cool. I don'treally care Iftei'm bing, honest because Ido Lok APN competition, thoughI like, watching it NBA All star and it was so fun to be in this year. I don'treally I mean it would be cool concept, but I don't really have A. I don't Idon't really mind but cuos to her shout up to her for winning that that'spretty awesome, though yeah there's some breaking news. Like three storiesI broke to you today, Ywell I...

...appreciate you coming on and good lookin the playoffs. Thank you SOM and let people know where they can find you onsocial media. Oh Yeah, you can follow me on any social media ttwenty one DA tozero. In the word, one.
